House Fire in Greater Uptown Area Leaves Firefighter Injured, Causes $3 Million in Damage

A house fire occurred on February 15, 2024, at 6:28 a.m. in the 6100 block of Crab Orchard Rd in the Greater Uptown area. One firefighter was transported to the hospital with a minor injury. The property saved is not available, but the estimated damage is $3,000,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters arrived on the scene within six minutes to find smoke emanating from a house under construction. They initiated an offensive attack, during which a firefighter injured their ankle and was subsequently transported to the hospital. As conditions worsened, crews evacuated to transition to a defensive attack. The fire was eventually controlled and extinguished.

Houston Fire Department Arson investigators were summoned to determine the cause and origin of the fire. A total of 51 personnel responded to the incident, including crews from Stations 2, 38, 5, 28, 3, 60, 69, 62, 57, and Rescue 10.
