Christian Nicholas Barrera and Fernando Aguilar, Jr.

Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man at 10240 Bauman Street around 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 28. Travante Marques Purvis, 22, Christian Nicholas Barrera, 19, and Fernando Aguilar, Jr., 24, face capital murder charges in the 208th State District Court.

The victim, a 30-year-old whose identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, was with a family member at a gas station at the mentioned address when three suspects approached them, allegedly attempting to rob them. In response, the victim’s uncle engaged in a shootout with the suspects.

Unfortunately, the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics. During the exchange of gunfire, one of the suspects was also hit, prompting all three to flee the scene.

However, shortly after the incident, the suspects—identified as Purvis, Barrera, and Aguilar—were apprehended at an area hospital, where Purvis, the wounded suspect, was receiving treatment. They were subsequently charged for their alleged roles in the shooting.
