Homeowner Discovers Wounded Teen Outside New Caney Residence; Victim Dies at Scene

NEW CANEY, Texas – Authorities are investigating a homicide after a 15-year-old boy was found suffering from a gunshot wound late Saturday night in New Caney.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 11:30 p.m. on May 30 to the 20700 block of Stevens Road, near the dead end of the reoad, after a homeowner called 911 to report finding an unknown person lying in front of the residence upon returning home.

When patrol deputies arrived, they located a 15-year-old Black male suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

Deputies immediately began lifesaving measures, but the teenager succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Major Crimes detectives and Crime Scene Investigators with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The deceased has been identified as 15-year-old Khi Broussard. Broussard previously attended Aldine Middle School and Keefer Crossing Middle School and was known to frequent the Greenspoint area.

Investigators believe the suspect and Broussard may have had prior contact through social media and planned to meet on the night of the murder.

Investigators are asking anyone with information related to the case to contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at 936-538-5900. They are also asking residents in the vicinity who may have surveillance footage capturing a possible suspect or suspect vehicle to contact them.
