Gunshot Incident at Cedar Ridge Apartments in Port Arthur Sparks Police Manhunt for Suspect

On the night of December 19, 2023, at approximately 11:48 pm, the Port Arthur Police Department responded to a distress call at 7617 9th Avenue, Cedar Ridge Apartments. The call reported a gunshot victim at the location.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 70-year-old female inside her apartment who had sustained a gunshot wound to her abdomen. The preliminary investigation suggests that the victim was asleep when a projectile entered her apartment through a window, resulting in the injury.

Video surveillance obtained by authorities revealed a male suspect discharging a firearm in the direction of the victim’s apartment. The individual was seen wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and white pants. Investigators believe the injured victim was not the intended target of the shooting.

In an effort to gather more information and identify the suspect, law enforcement is urging residents in the vicinity to review their security camera footage during the timeframe of December 19, 2023, from 11:00 pm through 11:45 pm.
