Group Fight Turns Fatal in North Lubbock Shooting

In North Lubbock, a 25-year-old man has been taken into custody and charged with murder following a fatal shooting on Friday night. The incident occurred in the 3200 block of Baylor Avenue at 10:26 pm on September 29, 2023. Lubbock Police responded to reports of a fight in progress with shots fired. Upon their arrival, officers discovered 41-year-old Ismael Saenz with multiple gunshot wounds. Saenz was pronounced dead at the scene, leading to an investigation by the Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit.

Preliminary findings indicate that multiple individuals had gathered in the area for a confrontation, among them 25-year-old Isaac Deleon. It is reported that Saenz approached the group, and at that point, Deleon allegedly shot him. A murder warrant was issued for Deleon, who was subsequently arrested without incident and taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
