Fugitive Alert: Inmate Escapes Texas Prison in Brazoria County, Serving Life Sentence for Child Abuse

On December 17, 2023, at 5:13 pm, the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an escaped inmate, Robert Dean Yancy Jr., from the Texas Department of Corrections, Clemens Unit near Brazoria, Texas. Yancy, who was serving a life sentence for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child in Victoria County, Texas, managed to escape at approximately 3:38 pm. He left the prison driving a white 2021 Nissan Versa with Texas license plate #DNR9145.

Following a preliminary investigation, it was discovered that Yancy’s escape vehicle was tracked through a state-wide license plate reader system. At around 6:09 pm, a hit indicated that the vehicle was in Victoria County. The information gathered so far suggests that Yancy may no longer be in Brazoria County.

The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office is actively collaborating with other State and Federal agencies to facilitate the swift apprehension of Robert Dean Yancy Jr. Authorities are working together to ensure the safety and security of the public.
