Father and Son Arrested after Assaulting Deputies in Brownsville

On Sunday, April 28, 2024, Cameron County Sheriff Deputies responded to a report of shots fired at a residence on the 2600 block of Avenida Eduardo, Brownsville, Texas, around 5:00 am. Witnesses informed the deputies that multiple rounds had been fired from the residence.

Upon arrival, deputies attempted to investigate but encountered resistance from the residents, 43-year-old Rolando Yanez and 19-year-old Rolando Yanez Jr. The Yanezes obstructed the investigation and physically resisted arrest when deputies attempted to detain them. Rolando Yanez Jr. even assaulted two deputies by punching them.

To gain compliance, deputies used a Taser on Rolando Yanez Jr. Both Rolando Yanez and Rolando Yanez Jr. were arrested and taken to the Carrizales Rucker Detention Center.

Rolando Yanez faces charges of Obstruction or Retaliation and Resisting Arrest Search or Transportation, while Rolando Yanez Jr. faces charges including Interference with Public Duties, Resisting Arrest Search or Transportation, and Assault on a Peace Officer.
