Fatal Shooting in Downtown San Angelo Leads to Murder Charge

Early Monday morning, January 1, 2023, tragedy struck in Downtown San Angelo as one male lost his life due to a gunshot. The incident unfolded on the 100 block of South Chadbourne.

Police responded to a report of a shooting victim in the East alley. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 23-year-old male with an apparent gunshot wound. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by officers and medics, the victim was declared deceased.

The alleged perpetrator, identified as 33-year-old Ryan Renfroe, was taken into custody at the scene. Renfroe now faces a Murder charge in connection with the incident, according to the San Angelo Police Department.

Authorities revealed that Renfroe and the victim were acquainted and that the incident stemmed from a previous altercation. The two individuals had arranged to meet at the specified location to address their prior conflict. During this encounter, the victim was purportedly shot and killed by Renfroe.

Renfroe was subsequently charged with Murder and has been transported to the Tom Green County Jail. The San Angelo Police Department emphasizes that the investigation remains active, and additional details may be disclosed at a later stage.
