Fatal Pedestrian Accident and Motorcycle Crash Update in Odessa
In the early hours of Friday, February 2nd, tragedy struck at the intersection of 42nd St. and West County Rd. as Odessa Police Department responded to a car-pedestrian collision. 51-year-old Shawn Wallace was identified as the victim, lying in the roadway upon officers’ arrival.
Investigation details unveiled that a white Lincoln Navigator, driven by 72-year-old Elena Haney, was heading eastbound on 42nd St. when it collided with Wallace as he crossed the street. Despite prompt medical attention, Wallace was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Ector County Medical Examiner’s Office. Next of kin has been notified, and no additional injuries were reported. The investigation is currently ongoing.
In another unfortunate incident, the aftermath of a motorcycle crash on January 24th has taken a somber turn. Daniel Allen, the 38-year-old operator of a Harley Davidson motorcycle, was pronounced deceased by medical personnel last night. Next of kin have been informed, and the investigation is continuing. The case is set to be presented to a grand jury for further review.
The initial incident occurred on January 24th around 6:30 pm in the vicinity of University and Dixie. The investigation indicated that a collision unfolded as Allen, traveling northbound in the 2700 block of N. Dixie on his Harley Davidson, collided with a southbound Dodge Dart operated by 22-year-old Paul Anthony Navarrette. Navarrette attempted to turn left into a private drive, resulting in the collision.
At the time of the initial report, Allen, not wearing a helmet, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was listed in critical condition. No other injuries were reported, and the investigation into the motorcycle crash remains ongoing.
