Escaped DWI Crash Suspect Arrested Near Cypress

Harris County Constable Precinct 5 deputies have successfully apprehended a woman, 31-year-old Olbein Mondragon Maldonado, wanted for fleeing a local hospital after a wrong-way crash.

The incident occurred in the early hours of January 5 on Highway 6 North, in the 4200 block.

Maldonado was involved in a head-on collision when the vehicle she was driving crossed the median, colliding with another car. The impact caused life-threatening injuries to the innocent driver of the second vehicle, including a broken sternum and internal bleeding. Fortunately, the victim survived and is currently in the process of recovery.

Following the crash, both Maldonado and the injured driver were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. However, Maldonado fled the hospital before law enforcement could take her into custody.

This week, deputies from Precinct 5’s Strategic Response Unit located and arrested Maldonado without incident in the 100 block of Hollow Tree Lane. She now faces felony charges of intoxicated assault.
