Fatal Crash in Austin: Pickup Truck Driver Arrested for Intoxication Manslaughter
On Wednesday, February 14, 2024, Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to the scene in the 6400 block of W Highway 290 WB around 2:27 a.m. involving two vehicles and a pedestrian.
The initial investigation pointed to a pickup truck colliding with the rear of an SUV before striking a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, whose identity remains unknown, lost their life at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup truck, identified as 41-year-old Jacob Sussman, was taken into custody by authorities. Sussman faces charges of Intoxication Manslaughter in connection with the incident.
The driver of the SUV was not injured, remained on scene, and is cooperating with the investigation.
