Fatal Collision in El Paso Claims Life Due to Disregarding Red Light

On February 17th, 2024, authorities responded to a collision involving three vehicles at the 7700 block of Gateway East and the 1200 block of Giles.

Preliminary investigations by Special Traffic Investigators revealed that a 1968 VW Beetle, driven by 42-year-old Adrian Dominguez of Socorro, TX, was traveling eastbound on the 7700 block of Gateway East in the left turn lane despite a red traffic light. At the same time, southbound traffic on Giles had a green light.

As the VW Beetle entered the intersection, it collided with a southbound Dodge Charger, resulting in a T-bone type collision. Subsequently, the VW Beetle slid and struck a Ford Expedition that was stationary at a red light in the northbound lanes of Giles.

Adrian Dominguez sustained serious injuries in the collision and was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. However, Dominguez succumbed to the injuries sustained in the accident.

Investigators have identified disregarding a red traffic light as the main contributing factor in this fatal collision.
