Fatal Collision in Atascocita Claims One Life

A collision occurred on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at around 3:37 pm, claiming the life of Brenda Melton. Ms. Melton was driving a gold 2003 Ford Ranger eastbound in the 1400 block of Old Atascocita Rd. As she approached the intersection of FM 2100, controlled by a stop sign, she disregarded it and continued east.

Jorge Luis Alonso was driving a white 2012 Ram 1500 northbound in the 22600 block of FM 2100 in the number one lane. The front of the Ram struck the right passenger side of Ms. Melton’s Ford as it entered the northbound lanes of FM 2100.

Ms. Melton was transported to HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood by HCA Airlife 12 in critical condition. Unfortunately, she was pronounced deceased by Dr. Chou at 1650 hours. Mr. Alonso and the passengers in the Ram, including a male juvenile (Front Right), Maria Alonso (Back Left), Female Juvenile (Back Center), and Amelia Reyes (Back Right), were not injured in the crash.

Mr. Alonso, who did not show any signs of impairment, remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The incident is currently under investigation, and further details will be released as they become available.
