Dallas Mavericks Sign Forward/Center Markieff Morris

The Dallas Mavericks have officially signed forward/center Markieff Morris, the team announced today. The terms of the deal remain undisclosed.

Markieff Morris, standing at 6 feet 9 inches and weighing 250 pounds, initially joined the Mavericks alongside Kyrie Irving in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets on February 6, 2023. With a career spanning 750 games, including 378 starts, he holds average statistics of 10.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.6 assists while spending an average of 24.1 minutes on the court. Morris has played for various teams in the past, including Phoenix, Washington, Oklahoma City, Detroit, the L.A. Lakers, Miami, Brooklyn, and Dallas. His career shooting percentages are 44.6% from the field (3,065-6,877 FG), 34.3% from beyond the arc (635-1,853 3FG), and 77.8% from the free throw line (1,189-1,528 FT). During the 2022-23 season, Morris made appearances in eight games, starting one, and averaged 4.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 8.8 minutes.

Markieff Morris was chosen as the 13th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Suns. A product of the University of Kansas, he achieved NBA glory by winning a championship with the Lakers in 2020. During the Lakers’ playoff run that year, he contributed an average of 5.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 18.4 minutes per game in 21 games, with two starts.

Beyond his basketball career, Morris, along with his twin brother Marcus, established the Family Over Everything Foundation. The foundation aims to provide support and guidance to alleviate the burdens faced by single parents, families in underserved communities, and at-risk members of society.
