Crash on North Freeway Claims Life of Motorcyclist

A fatal crash occurred at 6500 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) around 12:25 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, prompting an investigation by Houston police.

The deceased has been identified as Jaime Betancourt, 26, who was riding a black Yamaha YZF motorcycle northbound on the North Freeway. Betancourt failed to control his speed and collided with the rear of a white Dodge Challenger. As a result, Betancourt lost control of the motorcycle and was thrown from it. Subsequently, a black Chevrolet Malibu struck debris in the roadway.

Emergency services, including the Houston Fire Department paramedics, arrived at the scene where Betancourt was pronounced dead. The drivers of both the Challenger and the Malibu remained present and were questioned by authorities before being released.

There were no additional injuries reported. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
