Collision on Houston’s Gulf Freeway Claims Life of Pedestrian in Low Visibility Conditions

A fatal crash occurred at 6000 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) around 6:25 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024, prompting an investigation by the Houston Police.

The victim, a 30-year-old male, was attempting to cross the main lanes of the freeway when he was struck by a gray Honda Civic traveling northbound. Emergency medical services arrived at the scene and pronounced the male deceased.

The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. A witness reported low visibility due to fog at the time of the crash.

The 46-year-old male driver of the Honda Civic was questioned, found not to be impaired, and subsequently released.

As of now, the investigation is ongoing.
