Charges Upgraded to Murder in Odessa Shooting After Victim Succumbs to Injuries
One of the subjects involved in the shooting that occurred in the 700 block of Snyder Street succumbed to his injuries sustained during the shooting. On August 28, 2023, Jason Crowder, 26 years of age of Odessa, was pronounced deceased at Medical Center Hospital. On August 26, 2023, Zacimbrice White was released from Medical Center Hospital, he was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Felony 1st Degree. That charged will now be upgraded to Murder, Felony 1st Degree. Investigation continues.
Update on 8-24-23: Detectives are still investigating all of the details of the shooting this afternoon. Currently, two people are in the hospital with life threatening injuries. The assigned detectives have identified all parties involved in this shooting. There is no continuing threat to the public. This incident started as a verbal argument between two parties. The involved parties then escalated their behavior, which led to the shooting incident. We would like to thank the citizens on Snyder for their patience during this investigation. Currently at the hospital are Zacimbricc White (24) and Jason Crowder (28).
