Charges Filed Against Suspect in October 2022 Fatal Houston Shooting on Southwest Fwy, Currently At-Large

Charges have been filed against Donald Pruitt, 38, in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on October 4, 2022, at the service road of 11285 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) in Houston. Pruitt faces charges of murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 183rd State District Court. The victim who lost his life in the shooting is identified as Conrad Hargest, Jr., aged 59.

Two other victims, aged 32 and 47, sustained injuries and were transported to a hospital by private vehicle(s). They are expected to survive their wounds.

The Houston Police Department (HPD) and Houston Fire Department (HFD) responded to the shooting at a strip center parking lot where they found a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead by HFD paramedics. Narcotics were also discovered at the scene.

Shortly after the incident, two males arrived at a hospital with gunshot wounds believed to be related to the shooting.

Investigations suggest that the motive behind the shooting was robbery, although no suspect descriptions were available at the time of the incident.

Subsequent investigations identified Donald Pruitt as the suspect, leading to charges being filed against him on Monday, February 26. Pruitt is currently at large.
