Charges Filed Against Suspect in Fatal Shooting on South Gessner Road

Charges have been filed against Kenneth Vasquez, 34, in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on January 11 at 9707 South Gessner Road. Vasquez faces charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 248th State District Court.

The incident unfolded when Richar Torres Gomez, 23, and another male engaged in a dispute with an unknown male suspect over a loud vehicle. The suspect, later identified as Vasquez, allegedly pulled out a gun and shot both victims. Torres Gomez was transported to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries on January 13. The second victim, aged 19, sustained gunshot wounds but is expected to survive, according to doctors at an area hospital.

Following an investigation, Vasquez was identified as the suspect and was apprehended without incident on Wednesday, January 24. He has since been taken into custody at the Harris County Jail.
