High-Speed Chase Ends in Arrests After Stolen Vehicle Recovery in Mont Belvieu

On Friday, January 26, 2024, at 1:42 p.m., Mont Belvieu Police Department successfully located and apprehended a stolen F-350 pickup/welding rig reported as active from Harris County. The incident unfolded in the 12000 block of SH 146 in Mont Belvieu.

Upon conducting a routine traffic stop, the driver of the stolen vehicle opted to flee, initiating a pursuit involving Mont Belvieu PD units. Chambers County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies and Texas DPS/Highway Patrol also joined the chase as it extended out FM 1942 to Hatcherville Road. The pursuit ultimately led off-road and into a wooded area, where the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

While officers detained a female passenger, identified as 21-year-old Vickie FAUGHT, they established a perimeter around the wooded area. The Baytown Police Department’s K-9 unit was summoned to assist in the search for the fleeing driver.

Thanks to seamless collaboration among law enforcement agencies, the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Marty JARRETT of Houston, was swiftly apprehended. Jarrett faces multiple charges, including Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (State Jail Felony), Evading Arrest/Detention w/Vehicle (Felony 3rd), Fraudulent Use/Possession of Identifying Info (State Jail Felony), and Failure to ID (Misdemeanor-B).

In an unrelated development, Vickie FAUGHT was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant from Liberty County, charging her with 1st Degree felony Manufacture/Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1.
