Brownsville Man Arrested for Cocaine Possession After Evading Sheriff Deputies

On Wednesday, January 24, 2024, Cameron County Sheriff Deputies responded to an unknown disturbance in the 800 block of North Vermillion, Brownsville, Texas.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered that 22-year-old Juan Jesus Hernandez had fled on foot and entered an open field to conceal himself. Hernandez was located and detained by the deputies in the field. During a search, deputies found a small clear plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance in Hernandez’s pockets. Upon questioning, Hernandez identified the substance as cocaine.

Subsequently, Sheriff Deputies arrested Juan Jesus Hernandez and transported him to the Carrizales Rucker Detention Center, where he awaits arraignment. Hernandez is charged with the offense of Possession of Controlled Substance PG-2, a State Jail Felony.
