Brenham Man Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison for Gunpoint Assault and Sexual Demands on Spring Mother

A Brenham man, Jeremy Kejuan Wright, who held a Spring mother at gunpoint in her garage earlier this year while demanding money and sexual acts, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison and must register as a sex offender for life, announced Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg.

Wright, 21, pleaded guilty to a total of six crimes, including aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of aggravated sexual assault, two counts of aggravated sexual assault with a deadly weapon, and burglary. He accepted a sentence of 20 years in prison for each crime, with these sentences to run concurrently. As part of the agreement, he cannot appeal any of the convictions or the prison sentences.

The incident occurred on April 25 when Wright, who did not have a criminal record, walked into the open garage of a Spring home, brandishing a pistol at approximately 6:30 a.m. He demanded money and sexual acts from the mother who lived there as she was loading her vehicle for work. A quick-thinking teenager from the household called 911 for help.

Within just three minutes of the emergency call, deputies from Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman’s Office arrived at the scene. They prioritized the safety of the children in the home, evacuating them first, and subsequently arrested Wright, who was still in the garage, holding the mother at gunpoint.

Assistant District Attorney Savana Hooper, assigned to the DA’s Adult Sex Crimes Division, handled the prosecution of the case. Hooper emphasized the significance of the outcome, stating that it spares the victim and her children from having to testify and relive the traumatic event. She also highlighted that it ensures that Wright will serve a lengthy prison term and, upon release, will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Wright will be eligible for parole after serving at least half of his prison sentence.
