Thomas Courtney

On October 25, 2023, deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office East Precinct were dispatched to the 16000 block of Highway 105 East following a report of theft of property, which included the theft of an entire storage container. Subsequent investigations led to the recovery of the stolen storage container and the identification of a suspect.

On November 1, 2023, East Precinct deputies and detectives spotted the suspect in possession of the stolen items, leading to a pursuit. The suspect abandoned their vehicle and attempted to escape on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, deputies successfully apprehended the suspect, who was found to be in possession of five firearms.

The suspect, Thomas Henderson Courtney, 47, of New Caney, was taken into custody. As a convicted felon on parole and out on bail for an unrelated felony charge, the possession of firearms resulted in an additional charge of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Multiple stolen vehicles were also recovered from the suspect’s property, and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Auto Theft Task Force is actively investigating these stolen vehicles.

Currently, Thomas Henderson Courtney is being held in the Montgomery County Jail without bond. He faces charges of Evading Arrest with a Vehicle, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
