Border Patrol Catches Sexual Child Abuser in Brownsville
On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, Cameron County Sheriff Deputies responded to the US Border Patrol Checkpoint located on Hwy 4, Brownsville, Texas, in reference to a welfare concern.
Upon arrival, Sheriff Deputies made contact with US Border Patrol Agents who reported they conducted a secondary inspection on a vehicle occupied by an adult male, identified as 28-year-old Ruben Alejandro Marquez, and an underage person. Agents informed Sheriff Deputies they observed various inconsistencies throughout their interviews.
Sheriff Investigators initiated a criminal investigation where they learned that Marquez and the underage person were involved in a sexual relationship. Based on the facts learned through their investigation, Sheriff Investigators obtained an arrest warrant authorizing the arrest of Marquez for the offense of Sexual Assault of a Child.
On March 21, 2024, Mr. Marquez surrendered to the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office, and was taken into custody pending arraignment. Mr. Marquez is charged with the offense Sexual Assault of a Child TPC 22.011, a 2nd Degree Felony.
