Austin Police Seeks Public Assistance in Aggravated Assault Case on South Congress Avenue

On Thursday, December 7, 2023, at approximately 4:15 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to reports of a disturbance at 2407 S. Congress Avenue and discovered a victim of aggravated assault.

The suspect, described as a white male aged 45 to 55 with light hair in a ponytail, forcibly took the victim behind a dumpster. The assailant struck the victim multiple times and brandished a gun before fleeing on foot ahead of the arrival of police officers.

The suspect was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt, blue jeans, and a gray and blue ball cap. It is believed that he may reside in the vicinity of South Congress Avenue and Oltorf Street and is possibly armed with a handgun.

APD’s Aggravated Assault unit is urging anyone with information related to this incident to contact them at 512-974-5245. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
