In a recent development, the suspect wanted in connection to the fatal shooting of a woman and the injury of a man on September 7 has been apprehended. Dominique Menefee, 30, faces charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 337th State District Court.

The deceased victim has been identified as Sherniqua Banks, 34. The male victim, aged 41, sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. The incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. at 2800 West Gulf Bank Road, where officers responding to a shooting call found the victims inside a crashed vehicle. Ms. Banks, in the driver’s seat, was pronounced dead by paramedics, while the male was transported to the hospital. Fortunately, Banks’ 3-year-old son, a backseat passenger, was unharmed.

A witness reported that the victims’ vehicle and another were traveling eastbound on West Gulf Bank Road when a suspect(s) in the second vehicle opened fire. The suspect’s vehicle reportedly experienced a tire blowout after hitting the curb and fled the scene. Officers later found a nearby vehicle with matching damage, detaining two individuals who were subsequently released without charges. It was believed that a third individual, the alleged shooter, had fled on foot before the officers’ arrival.

After a thorough investigation, Dominique Menefee was identified as the suspect and charged on October 25. On November 13, members of the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force arrested Menefee without incident, and he was subsequently booked into the Harris County Jail.
