Altercation in South Austin Leads to Fatal Stabbing

On Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at around 11:49 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers swiftly responded to a reported stabbing in the 2200 block of Teri Road in South Austin. Upon arrival, officers discovered 48-year-old Javier Jaimes, who appeared to be the victim of a stabbing.

Jaimes was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

In response to the incident, detectives from the aggravated assault unit and Crime Scene Specialists were dispatched to process the scene. Preliminary investigations indicate that an initial verbal altercation involving the victim and two suspects, one identified as 36-year-old Joe Manuel Flores, escalated into a physical confrontation. It was during this altercation that Flores allegedly produced a knife, resulting in the stabbing of Javier Jaimes.

Law enforcement took immediate action, apprehending Joe Flores at the scene. Flores now faces charges of 1st Degree Felony Murder in connection with the incident. His bond was set at $600,000.

The investigation remains ongoing.
