FRIENDSWOOD, Texas – Two people have been arrested after alert neighbors and family members reported suspicious activity at a Friendswood residence, leading investigators to uncover an apparent burglary.

According to the Friendswood Police Department, officers received a report on May 29 regarding a suspicious vehicle parked at a home in the 700 block of Falling Leaf Drive.

Residents living nearby and family members of the homeowners recognized that no one should have been at the residence and contacted police after noticing the vehicle in the driveway.

Before officers arrived, the reporting parties confronted one of the suspects in the yard. The individual then got into a vehicle and left the scene.

When officers reached the home, they discovered signs of forced entry. Family members also determined that several items had been moved or were missing from inside the residence.

Among the items reported stolen were a box containing bonds, personal documents, photographs, and two boxes of silver coins.

Investigators and members of the department’s Field Support Unit used photographs of the suspect vehicle along with physical evidence recovered at the scene to identify and locate the suspects.

On May 30, police arrested 19-year-old Zachary Corley of Pearland and 20-year-old Sophia Leggio of Friendswood.

The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office accepted charges of Criminal Trespass of a Habitation against both suspects.

Authorities said bond was set at $7,500 for each defendant.

The investigation remains ongoing.
