Texas City Man Arrested After Multi-Agency Pursuit Ends in Santa Fe
Edward Dowdy

A 24-year-old Texas City man was arrested early Wednesday morning after leading multiple law enforcement agencies on a pursuit through several cities before being stopped and tased in Santa Fe in Galveston County.

Edward Dowdy was taken into custody on February 14, 2025, and charged with Evading Arrest with a Vehicle ($50,000 bond) and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon ($2,500 bond).

The incident began at approximately 4:50 a.m. when the Texas City Police Department (TCPD) initiated a pursuit of a yellow Chevy Camaro driving northbound on SH 146 with its headlights off. The suspect vehicle was last seen traveling westbound on FM 517 before TCPD lost sight of it.

A short time later, the Dickinson Police Department spotted the Camaro near FM 646 and SH 3 but also lost visual contact. League City Police Officer Thomas later located the vehicle heading northbound on SH 3 toward League City Parkway, still without headlights.

LCPD officers initiated a pursuit onto IH-45, continuing through Dickinson and into Texas City before the chase entered Santa Fe. The vehicle finally came to a stop at Arcadia First Baptist Church in the 14000 block of SH 6.

Dowdy exited the Camaro and attempted to flee on foot but was quickly subdued when officers deployed a taser. EMS evaluated him at the scene before he was transported to the League City Jail.

During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered two handguns, which were seized as evidence.
