Toddler Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident in Channelview, Driver Still Sought

On Monday, December 9, 2024, at approximately 2:05 p.m., a two-year-old girl was struck by an unknown vehicle while walking in the driveway of several trailer homes at 16442 Woodrow St, Channelview, TX. The vehicle fled the scene without stopping to provide aid.

The child was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital-TMC in critical condition, where she was later pronounced deceased.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed that the child had supervision at the time of the incident but clarified that the driver of the vehicle had left the scene, correcting initial reports that suggested the driver remained present. Eric Albers from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division stated that the child’s father found her lying injured outside their home and flagged down a neighbor. The family resides on a property with multiple mobile homes, and all vehicles belonging to the residents have been accounted for.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office at (713) 274-7400 or Crime Stoppers at (713) 221-6000.
