Fatal Crash in El Paso Claims Life of Motorcyclist After Dodge Charger Turns in Front of Him

On November 29, 2024, the El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigations unit was called to assist with a fatal two-vehicle crash involving a motorcyclist. The incident occurred in the 10100 block of Dyer Street at the intersection of Deer Street.

According to the initial investigation, a Dodge Charger, driven by 28-year-old Vyky Leilani Morgan of Northeast El Paso, was traveling north on Dyer Street. As the vehicle approached the intersection of Deer, Morgan made a left turn in front of a southbound motorcyclist, 62-year-old Mark Alan Rasmussen, who was riding a 2007 Honda Shadow.

The collision took place in the intersection, and Rasmussen was immediately transported to a local hospital. Despite efforts to save him, Rasmussen later succumbed to his injuries.

The crash has been categorized as the 63rd traffic fatality in El Paso for 2024. This is a decrease compared to the 75 fatalities reported at this time last year. It is important to note that the 57th fatality of the year was ruled a suicide by the medical examiner’s office and does not count towards the traffic fatality total.

The investigation into the incident continues.
