Bicyclist Dead in Lubbock Fatal Collision with SUV

The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit is investigating a Tuesday evening in west Lubbock that left a 63-year-old man dead.

Officers were called to 19th Street and Dover Avenue at 10:05 pm on September 5, 2023, for reports of a collision with injuries involving a bicyclist.

Through the initial course of the investigation, it appears an SUV being driven by 20-year-old Noah Byford was traveling west in the 5600 block of 19th Street. 63-year-old Harvest Youngblood attempted to work north across 19th Street with his bicycle and was struck by the SUV.

Youngblood was transported to University Medical Center by EMS where he was later pronounced deceased.

The investigation is ongoing.
