According to surveillance footage, Sanford, a passenger in Davis’ car, attempted to flee the vehicle during the argument. Davis pursued her with a semi-automatic pistol. The pursuit lasted about 20 minutes and when he finally caught her, she can seen trying to calm him down. After a few minutes, she ran away again he shot her multiple times in the back. As she lay on the ground, he approached her, aimed and fired, shooting her six times in the back of the head.

Following the murder, Davis fled to Louisiana where he remained for over a year before being apprehended in December 2022 following an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers of Houston.

Assistant District Attorneys Matthew Magill and Gabriel Kabak prosecuted the case, emphasizing the senseless nature of the crime driven by rage and jealousy.

Davis has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 30 years before being eligible for parole.

The case underscores the seriousness with which domestic violence cases are handled, with Ogg stating, “We all know how fast violence in a troubled relationship can escalate to murder, and that is why we take any and all allegations of abuse so seriously.”
