Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputies Honored for Compassionate Crisis Response

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Deputies Robert Burkett, Jay Villalobos, Lizbeth Rodriguez, and Specialist Jeff Lackey were recognized for their outstanding dedication at the National Association of Mental Illness (NAMI – Greater Houston Area) awards banquet on January 26, 2024.

The four deputies were honored with the “C.I.T. Deputy of the Quarter” Award for their compassionate responses in handling serious crisis situations involving members of the public. Specialist Jeff Lackey received special acknowledgment for his exemplary efforts in persuading a suicidal individual to step back from an 8th-floor ledge, ensuring a safe resolution and facilitating access to mental health treatment.

Sheriff Rand Henderson expressed his pride in leading such a compassionate and professional group, stating, “I am so proud to lead such a compassionate and professional group. These four symbolize the care and concern all our deputies bring to Montgomery County every day. Well done!”
