Forest Bend Fire Chief Dies of Heart Attack Following Efforts in Friendswood Blaze

Early Saturday morning, November 25, 2023, Forest Bend Fire Department rendered crucial assistance to Friendswood Fire in tackling a significant structure fire in the 1300 block of Deepwood Drive.
Forest Bend Fire Chief John Norris, a seasoned firefighter with an extensive 38-year career, returned home after his role in managing the Friendswood incident. Unfortunately, tragedy struck as Chief Norris suffered a fatal heart attack at his residence.
Appointed as Chief in September, Chief Norris had been an integral part of the Forest Bend Fire Department for the past six years. Prior to his service in Forest Bend, he dedicated 32 years to the Houston Fire Department, retiring in 2022.
Chief Norris is survived by his wife, Wendy Chang Norris, and their daughter, Catherine. The firefighting community mourns the loss of a dedicated leader and expresses condolences to the Norris family during this difficult time.
