21-Year-Old Charged With Murder After Man Fatally Shot in Austin, Police Say
AUSTIN, Texas – A 21-year-old man has been charged with murder after Austin police say he admitted to fatally shooting a man Saturday evening.
Joitorian Bouye was arrested in connection with the death of 35-year-old Tyrell Pordia.
Austin police responded around 5:34 p.m. Aug. 29 to a shooting call in the 11700 block of Timber Heights Drive. The 911 caller reported that a man had a firearm and someone had been shot.
Witnesses told police they saw the suspected shooter flee the area.
Officers arrived and found Pordia suffering from gunshot wounds. Police said his injuries were incompatible with life, and he was pronounced dead at 5:53 p.m.
Other responding officers located Bouye and took him into custody without incident.
Austin Police Department homicide detectives and Austin Forensic Science crime scene specialists responded to investigate the shooting.
Bouye was taken to the APD Homicide Unit, where he spoke with detectives.
Police said Bouye admitted to shooting Pordia.
Bouye was subsequently arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
Police have not released information about what led to the shooting or said whether Pordia and Bouye knew each other.
The case is being investigated as Austin’s 38th homicide of 2026.
