TOMBALL, Texas — The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent murder-suicide after two people were found dead inside a home early Friday morning.

According to investigators, Harris County Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives responded at approximately 12:15 a.m. on June 26 to a residence in the 12500 block of Baldwin Springs Court in Tomball.

The investigation began after Harris County Precinct 4 constable deputies and EMS responded to a 911 call from a 12-year-old girl, who reported that her mother was unresponsive and had a wound to her abdomen.

Deputies entered the home and located the woman deceased. They also found an older man in the master bedroom suffering from what investigators believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the upper torso and head.

During the investigation, detectives interviewed the 12-year-old girl and neighbors. Investigators learned there had been a history of family violence between the man and woman.

After speaking with the child’s adult sister, detectives released the 12-year-old into the care of a family friend. Authorities said the girl’s immediate family members are in Venezuela and were unable to immediately take custody of her.

The Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office removed both bodies from the home. Autopsies are expected to be performed to determine the official causes and manners of death.

Detectives are also working to locate the male’s next of kin.

The investigation remains ongoing.
