Suspect Accused of Firing at Deputies During High-Speed Pursuit Through Brazos County

BRAZOS COUNTY, Texas — A Corsicana man is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say he fired at deputies during a high-speed pursuit that stretched across two counties Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office, deputies initiated a traffic stop at approximately 1:48 p.m. on June 23 on a vehicle traveling along Highway 6 between OSR and FM 2818.
The vehicle initially stopped near Highway 6 and FM 2818 before suddenly fleeing, leading deputies north into Robertson County.
Investigators said the driver turned around just north of OSR and headed back south into Brazos County while deputies continued the pursuit.
During the chase, authorities allege the suspect fired gunshots at deputies at two separate locations. One round struck a patrol vehicle, but no deputies were injured.
The pursuit continued south on Highway 6 before the suspect exited onto Harvey Road. The vehicle briefly entered the parking lot of a closed business before returning toward Highway 6.
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers attempted several Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuvers and made contact with the suspect vehicle, but the driver continued fleeing.
Authorities said the suspect then drove recklessly through the Sam’s Club and Cinemark parking lots, where numerous bystanders were present, before reaching the northbound Highway 6 feeder road.
The vehicle was eventually disabled and brought to a stop. Deputies took both occupants into custody without further incident.
Investigators emphasized that no law enforcement officer discharged a firearm during the pursuit.
Authorities said the suspect vehicle caused damage to multiple properties, including a fence, while fleeing.
Arrests Made
Investigators identified the driver as 43-year-old Jason Aitken of Corsicana.
Aitken was arrested and charged with:
- Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant
- Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
- Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle
The passenger, identified as 40-year-old Sierra Bricker of Teague, was arrested and cited for failing to wear a seatbelt.
Brazos County Sheriff Wayne Dicky praised the coordinated response by multiple agencies and expressed gratitude that no one was seriously injured.
“Our deputies put themselves in harm’s way every day to keep our community safe, and today’s incident demonstrates just how dangerous that responsibility can be,” Dicky said. “I am grateful that no one was seriously injured during this incident and proud of how our local law enforcement agencies worked together to safely bring the suspects into custody.”
Assisting agencies included the Bryan Police Department, College Station Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol, Texas Rangers, Brazos County Constables’ Offices, and the Texas A&M University Police Department.
The investigation remains ongoing.
