Teen Already Jailed in Separate Murder Case Charged in 2025 Killing of 17-Year-Old at Harris County Party

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A 19-year-old inmate already facing a murder charge in an unrelated case has now been charged in the 2025 shooting death of a 17-year-old who was gunned down after a confrontation at a large party in east Harris County.
According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, Homicide detectives charged Enrique J. Aguilar with Murder on June 17, 2026, in connection with the death of Angel Garcia.
Garcia, 17, was killed on Aug. 30, 2025, in the 14700 block of Waldine Street. Deputies responded to the scene late that night and learned Garcia had been attending a party with his girlfriend where an estimated 200 people were present.
Investigators determined Garcia was approached by several Hispanic males before a brief altercation occurred. During the confrontation, Garcia was shot and killed.
Detectives later identified Aguilar as the alleged shooter.
At the time of the investigation, authorities stated Garcia was specifically targeted and that the shooting was not random.
Aguilar was already being held in the Harris County Jail on a separate murder charge filed by Harris County Sheriff’s Office investigators.
That case stems from a Valentine’s Day shooting that resulted in the death of 17-year-old Mariah Alatorre. Investigators said deputies were notified around 7 a.m. about a shooting connected to a party near Millroy Lane in northeast Houston that reportedly drew nearly 300 attendees.
Alatorre was transported to an emergency room before being transferred to HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest, where she died from her injuries.
Aguilar was arrested in that case on April 21, 2026, and remains jailed on a $500,000 bond. His brother, 18-year-old Romeo Aguilar, was also arrested during that investigation but was charged only with possession of a prohibited weapon.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the motive in either homicide.
Aguilar’s next court appearance in the Mariah Alatorre murder case is scheduled for Aug. 6, 2026.
The investigation into Garcia’s death remains ongoing.
