Houston Police Release Sketch, Video of Suspect Sought in Fatal East End Shooting

HOUSTON, Texas — Houston police have released a composite sketch and surveillance video of a suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in the city’s Greater East End area.

The shooting occurred at approximately 8:55 p.m. on May 31 in the 7200 block of Canal Street.

The victim was identified as 42-year-old Jose Trujillo.

According to the Houston Police Department, patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting and found Trujillo lying on a sidewalk suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Houston Fire Department paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses told investigators they heard multiple gunshots before discovering the victim.

The investigation, led by HPD Homicide Division Sergeants S. Jimenez and C. LaFour and Detectives C. Bowling and A. Hernandez, determined that a male suspect fled the area immediately after the shooting.

Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic male in his late teens or early 20s, approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall, with black curly hair. He was last seen wearing a beige T-shirt and light blue jeans.

Investigators have released a composite sketch and surveillance video in hopes that members of the public can help identify the suspect.
