Five Arrested in Midland Assault of Motorist Tied to Motorcycle Gang

MIDLAND, Texas — Five men have been arrested following an aggravated assault involving a motorist in Midland, with investigators linking the suspects to an organized criminal group, according to the Texas Anti-Gang Center Permian Basin.

The incident occurred April 25 near Loop 250 East and Interstate 20, where authorities said five individuals attacked a motorist. Investigators identified the suspects as 45-year-old Willie Morales, 41-year-old Jose Lujan, 50-year-old Billy Blackmon, 33-year-old Jose Vasquez and 48-year-old Christopher Smith.

All five were arrested and charged with aggravated assault and engaging in organized criminal activity. Officials said the individuals are members of the Mongols Motorcycle Gang.

The suspects were booked into the Midland County Central Detention Center.

The Texas Anti-Gang Center Permian Basin, which led the investigation, includes personnel from the Midland County Sheriff’s Office, Ector County Sheriff’s Office, Midland Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Midland County District Attorney’s Office and federal partners including the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
