NEW CANEY, TX — A 63-year-old Houston man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after a homeowner returned from work early and discovered the man in his teenage daughter’s bedroom. Miguel Navarrete was taken into custody on April 21, 2026, and is currently facing a second-degree felony charge for Sexual Assault of a Child.

The incident occurred in the 21400 block of Dallas Street. At approximately 4:45 p.m., Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office East Patrol Deputies arrived at the residence in response to a disturbance call involving Navarrete and the homeowner.

Discovery and Arrest

The investigation revealed that the homeowner noticed an unfamiliar vehicle in his driveway upon arriving home. After entering the residence, he proceeded to his daughter’s bedroom, where he found Navarrete.

Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit took over the scene. Their findings indicated that Navarrete had previously met the juvenile victim at a church in Houston. According to authorities, he traveled to the New Caney residence specifically for the purpose of engaging in a sexual relationship with the minor.

Current Charges and Public Plea

Navarrete was transported to the Montgomery County Jail for booking. While he is currently charged with one count of Sexual Assault of a Child, investigators believe there may be additional victims due to the circumstances of how the pair met.
