Dirt Bike Rider Charged After Fleeing Deputies, Crashing in Houston Pursuit
Pedro Avila

HOUSTON, Texas – On Sunday, February 15, 2026, deputies with Harris County Constable Precinct Two were patrolling the 4100 block of Broadway Street when they spotted two motorized dirt bikes operating on a public roadway without required lighting equipment or state license plates.

Deputies activated their emergency lights in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop. Instead of complying, both riders accelerated and began fleeing, prompting a pursuit with lights and sirens activated.

During the chase, authorities say the riders committed multiple traffic violations and drove recklessly through the area, creating a significant safety risk to motorists and nearby residents.

One rider, identified as Pedro Avila, drove off-road into a parking lot in the 4100 block of Broadway Street. He struck a curb, lost control, and crashed. Emergency Medical Services responded, and Avila was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. He was later medically cleared.

The second rider fled the area before additional units arrived and remains outstanding.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted a charge of Felony Evading in a Motor Vehicle. Deputies also recovered a firearm, which was placed into evidence.

Officials emphasized that reckless driving and fleeing from law enforcement endangers the community and said proactive enforcement efforts will continue to keep roadways safe.
