Bryan Man Charged With Capital Murder After Two Relatives Killed in Brazos County Shooting

BRYAN, TX – Two people were killed in a shooting Saturday evening in Brazos County, and a 32-year-old Bryan man has been charged with capital murder, authorities said.
Just after 5:00 p.m. on January 17, 2026, the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a possible shooting in the 6300 block of Steep Hollow Circle in Bryan. Deputies arrived to find two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts at the scene and transport to a local hospital, both victims later died from their injuries.
The suspect fled before deputies arrived, prompting a search involving multiple agencies. A short time later, with assistance from the Bryan Police Department and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, a subject of interest was located at a restaurant near the intersection of Briarcrest Drive and Oak Ridge Drive and taken into custody.
Investigators later identified the suspect as Ezekiel William Barajas, 32, of Bryan. He has been charged with capital murder of multiple persons. His bond was set at $500,000. Authorities confirmed the victims were Nancy Winn, 52, and Gerald Winn, 61, both of Bryan, and said the suspect is related to the victims.
Officials stated there is no ongoing threat to the public as the investigation continues. The sheriff’s office expressed condolences to the victims’ family and thanked the Bryan Fire Department, Precinct 3 Fire Department, and assisting agencies for their support during the response.
