Convicted Cuban Child Sex Offender Named Featured Fugitive; $4,000 Reward Offered

AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has named Ismael Arias, 52, a convicted child sex offender from Cuba, as this month’s Texas 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrant Featured Fugitive.

Arias is wanted out of Harris County since April 2025 for failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements.

The reward for information leading directly to his arrest has been increased to $4,000 during November, provided the tip is received this month.

Criminal History

Arias has a violent criminal history in Texas and Florida dating back to 2005.

  • 2006 Conviction: Arias was convicted in Hudspeth County for indecency with a child by contact following an incident involving a 13-year-old girl.
  • Prior Charges: He faced prior arrests in 2006 for aggravated sexual assault of a child, aggravated kidnapping (Hudspeth County), sexual assault, and kidnapping (Culberson County).
  • Florida Offenses: In 2005, he was arrested in Florida for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, battery, and criminal mischief.

Arias was released on parole from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) in July 2013 and discharged in July 2015.

Arias is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 225 pounds. He has visible tattoos on both of his upper arms.
