Man Accused of Running Over Girlfriend with Pickup Truck Arrested in Harris County

HOUSTON, Texas – A 24-year-old Arkansas man has been arrested after investigators say he intentionally struck his 18-year-old girlfriend with a pickup truck following an argument in north Harris County, leaving her hospitalized in critical condition.

Detectives with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Violent Offenders Unit arrested Jorge Luis Perez in connection with the aggravated assault, which occurred in the 400 block of FM 1960 near the Cypress Station area.

According to investigators, Perez and the victim, both Arkansas residents, were traveling together in a pickup truck when they became involved in an argument.

At some point during the dispute, the 18-year-old woman exited the vehicle.

Detectives allege Perez initially drove away before turning the truck around and intentionally driving into the victim as she walked away.

The victim suffered severe injuries and was found unconscious at the scene. She was transported to a local hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

Investigators identified the suspect vehicle as a red Dodge Ram pickup truck by reviewing surveillance footage and using law enforcement databases.

The truck was later located at a nearby apartment complex, where detectives observed Perez get behind the wheel and drive away. Patrol deputies conducted a traffic stop and arrested him without incident.

Perez was booked into the Harris County Jail and is charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.
