Santa Fe Man Arrested After Theft at Local Café, La Marque Officer Injured During Arrest

On August 21, 2025, around 12:55 p.m., Santa Fe Police officers responded to a welfare check at Armadilleaux Café, 13230 FM 1764 Rd, Suite A, Santa Fe, Texas. Upon arrival, restaurant staff reported that a subject had entered the café, gone into the general manager’s office, and taken bank bags containing cash before leaving in a white Dodge minivan.
Officers from the La Marque Police Department located the suspect’s vehicle near FM 1764 and IH 45. A vehicle stop was conducted on the southbound feeder of IH 45 in the 6400 block, where the suspect was taken into custody. During the arrest, a La Marque police officer was injured. Police recovered the stolen bank bags from the vehicle.
The suspect was identified as 46-year-old Eric Mitchell Eaves of Santa Fe, Texas. He is currently held at the Galveston County Jail on charges of:
- Theft between $750–$2,500 (bond $2,500)
- Assault of a Peace Officer (bond $60,000)
- Resist Arrest/Search/Transport (bond $2,500)
Eaves’ total bond was set at $65,000.
