Dallas Man Arrested in February Fatal Shooting of His Uncle

DALLAS, TX — A suspect has been arrested in connection with the February 2025 shooting death of 61-year-old Malcolm Caraway, who was found fatally wounded in the yard of his Berwick Avenue home.
Dallas Police announced Friday the arrest of 46-year-old Kendrick Davis, the nephew of the victim. Caraway was discovered unresponsive on February 4 with a single gunshot wound to the side of his chest. A neighbor who found the victim told police about an ongoing dispute between Caraway and Davis, who lived at the same address.
According to an arrest affidavit, the neighbor stated Caraway had been fearful of Davis and had purchased a revolver for self-protection. Days before the shooting, Caraway reported the gun missing and suspected Davis of taking it. A previous police report dated January 29 also documented Caraway’s claim that Davis had threatened to kill him and had stolen a tablet.
Davis was brought in for questioning at the Dallas Police Department, where he denied any recent firearm use or knowledge of the missing weapon. He voluntarily submitted to gunshot residue testing and provided a DNA sample.
During the execution of a search warrant at Davis’ residence and vehicle, investigators located a .357 revolver and three live rounds. DNA testing confirmed Davis’ genetic material on the firearm, and his hands tested positive for gunshot residue.
An arrest warrant was issued on July 2. Davis was taken into custody on Wednesday and booked into the Dallas County Jail on a murder charge. His bond has been set at $1 million.
