Driver Dies After Pickup Truck Goes Airborne and Crashes Into Creek in Katy

A 21-year-old man was killed Sunday night, June 29, 2025, after his pickup truck went airborne and crashed into a creek embankment along the westbound service road of the Katy Freeway.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 9:57 p.m. in the 21800 block of the westbound Katy Freeway service road. The driver, identified as Ayden Shaw, was operating a white 1995 Ford F-150 in the number two lane when he failed to maintain a single lane and lost control of the vehicle.
The Ford entered a clockwise spin and left the roadway to the north. The truck struck a guardrail with its front right corner before becoming airborne. While airborne, the vehicle struck a utility pole located just beyond the guardrail. It continued through the air for approximately 100 feet before landing in a creek embankment.
Shaw was airlifted by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 11:15 p.m. by Dr. Clements.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is actively investigating the crash.
