Body of Missing Swimmer Recovered from Lake Lewisville

Texas Game Wardens responded to a reported water fatality on Lake Lewisville at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, after a swimmer went under and did not resurface.

The victim, identified as 28-year-old Cleveland Whiteside of Mississippi, was last seen swimming near a watercraft before submerging.

Search efforts continued overnight, and at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, Whiteside’s body was located with the assistance of Towboat U.S. and recovered by divers from the Lewisville Fire Department.

His remains have been transferred to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination.

Texas Game Wardens released a statement offering condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Whiteside during this difficult time.
